The name originates from the Cornish pen, which translates as end or head and dour which translates as water. The cove features in the local legend about the Mermaid of Zennor.
Pendour Cove is about a mile north west of the Zennor village and on the western side of Zennor Head. Steep access from the South West Coast Path at Trewey Cliff.
